The year did NOT start off well. I was diagnosed with Influenza A despite getting my flu shot! UGH. So, I didn’t start this adventure until January 12th. I tried to swim as much as I could for the last 20 days of the month and I made it to 14.9 miles for the month! So, I have some miles to make up for the year, and I’m looking at February as a short month, YIKES!! Dr Roth, my superhero cardiologist did tweak my pacemaker and gave me a higher heart rate ( I asked him for “more juice”!) so that helped with pace and fatigue level after the swims are over. But, the muscles are definitely older than when I was racing 13 years ago!! I found a great massage therapist and I am seeing my chiropractor weekly. Ibuprofen, heat packs and the foam roller are definite necessities!
