WOW, May was a WHIRLWIND!!! I swam 32.0 miles!! The goal is 25.6, so I made up some distance, WOOHOOO!!!! I am only behind 1.2 miles for the year now,YAHOOO! It was a good month for swimming, but very hard emotionally. We celebrated Mother’s Day, which is always so bittersweet, because there is the empty seat where our Kate should be sitting. On May 25th we marked 8 years since Katie died, and my mind can’t conceive that she’s actually been gone that long. Not many people remember anymore, but my heart breaks as I watch old family movies and remember happier times in life. Especially with her dad gone now, this year was particularly difficult. Nicole and I did plant flowers at her tree, so I am hoping that they continue to bloom and beautify the area. Then, on May 30th, I stood on the stage of Menomonee Falls High School by myself for the first time, and I awarded $3,000 in art scholarships to graduating seniors in Katie’s memory. Her legacy lives on….
I’m very glad that May only happens once per year. I hope that people are planning to DONATE DONATE DONATE as I continue this SWIMMING SWIMMING SWIMMING!!!
